Located between the Landes de Gascogne and the Basque Country, Castets is an exceptional country setting, with a variety of leisure activities and a mild climate all year round.

Between the forest and the ocean, visitors love exploring its heritage its typical Landes landscapes and the beaches, close to Saint Girons, Moliets and Lake Léon.

What to see and do in Castets

The Castets heritage circuit is dotted with architectural and natural riches: the gigantic sequoia planted in 1870 on the Place Jean d’Anse, the town hall and its neoclassical style, the 15th century bell and the church of Saint-Barthélemy et Saint-Roch, as well as the old forges, now in ruins.

Follow the different signposted trails in the village, in particular the thematic route with a fun treasure hunt!

Get on your bike and take “Lo Camin de Hè”, the old railway line, transformed into a cycle path, to reach the Atlantic coast and the beaches of Vielle Saint Girons, Lette Blanche and Saint Girons – or go all the way to Taller, inland.

For water sports enthusiasts, the Atlantic Ocean stretches out to infinity – a never ending playground for your favourite activity, whether it’s windsurfing, stand-up paddling or surfing in the beach breaks of St Girons plage and Cap de l’Homy – not to be missed!

If a real adventure tempts you, try the descent of the river Palue by canoe, through a protected natural area. A small winding river over seven kilometres with thrills guaranteed!
