As the entrance door of the Côte Landes Nature territory, it’s a village where life is good and which offers a variety of leisure activities.
With more than 2500 inhabitants and certified “Towns and Villages in Bloom” (2 flowers🌼), Castets is one of the most important villages of Côte Landes Nature and offers you all the services and convenience shops you need.

Between ocean and forest, explore its heritage with your family, as a couple or with your friends, and admire its typical landscapes from Les Landes and its beaches near Saint Girons, Moliets Plage or Lake Léon.

Through Castets streets, let yourself be surprised by a heritage rich in history and expertise. The heritage and art tour allows you to explore the village and get to know better about its secrets, between traditions and modernity.

  • Must-see, the Forges neighbourhood and its Barrat Pond. They will immerse you in the steel-making era that marked the local life between 1820 and 1906. Large illustrated panels evoke the excitement of those years when the industrial activity was at its peak.
In 2026, this tour will be enhanced by a unique, fun, and poetic walk. Guided by Sylvain The Leprechaun, the visitors will live an original, intergenerational and full of charm experience.
  • The giant redwood on the Jean d’Anse place, planted in 1870, host you majestically.
  • The neoclassical town hall and bourgeois houses bear witness to a prestigious past.
  • The Saint-Barthélemy church, the 15th-century bell and the ruins from the old forges complete this journey back in time.

Follow in the footsteps of a local artist : Emile Vignes

Castets is the Emile Vignes native village, a talented landscape photographer born in 1896.

Through his lens, he captured the soul of Les Landes like no other, immortalizing its landscapes, traditions, and local life with realism and poetry.
A panel in the corner of the Eglise street and the Marensin street marks his birthplace. While walking in this same Marensin street, you can discover an artworks selection exposed on a wall, a true tribute to this unique look of the region of Les Landes.

An adventure for everyone
You want to discover all of this while having fun? Explore the village’s themed orienteering trails. With the fun questionnaire, young and old alike can explore Castets in a different way.

For the ocean lovers, La Lette Blanche and Saint Girons Plage beaches are just a few pedal strokes away, but still 25km! So it’s up to you.
For those who prefer fresh water, treat yourself to a canoe-kayak trip down the Palue River, a wild river classed protected natural area. A beautiful 7km tour in the heart of the nature.

Did you know?

With 9000 acres, Castets is almost as big as Paris intramural (10 500ha) !

And the Pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela sometimes take the Castets trails to reach the coastal route because the village is between the Tours and Littoral roads.
