It is located 15 minutes form the Atlantic beaches of St Girons Plage and Cap de l’Homy, and 10 minutes from the banks of Lake Léon on its northern shore, in Vielle.

Stroll through the village to discover its strong identity and all the art of living in the Landes. There are numerous architectural gems studded around the picturesque streets, including half-timbered houses and small private châteaux.

The Château Belle Epoque is a place of exceptional beauty dating from 1762. It is locatedin a four hectare park with lots of hundred-year-old trees, a French garden, a lake open to anglers and a giant bamboo grove. Its old stables, designed by Gustave Eiffel, are unique in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

The Art Deco village hall, called the « Maison du peuple » (People’s House) is a curiosity well worth seeing. Work of the architect Georges Fudji, this jewel of Art Deco architecture was designated by the cultural and tourist magazine ” Le Festin” as “the most unusual work in the Landes”.

An airial is a verdant patch of land, typical of the Landes, comprising one or more dwellings, barns and gardens, covered wiht lawns and planted with a few oaks or umbrella pines. There are lots to see and to visit – well worth a short detour.

Cyclists, hikers and mountain bikers will ove the « Binaou » loop, for a beautiful walk or ride in the forest. Follow the « Lo Camin de Hè » cycle path and admire the natural environment around you before reaching the St Girons beach, Lake Léon or Castets des Landes.

For the best local produce, visit the market on the church square on Tuesday and Friday mornings, all year round.
