Welcome to Lit et Mixe!

Located in the heart of the “Côte Landes Nature” holiday destination, Lit-et-Mixe offers visitors a friendly atmosphere all year round.

For sun worshippers, the unspoiled Atlantic coast is an ideal holiday destination to recharge your batteries. A lively town with all the facilities and shops you’ll need, Lit et Mixe is the ideal base for a stay in the Landes.

What to do and see in Lit et Mixe

Nicknamed « la Grande Dame du Marensin », Lit-et-Mixe was born after the merge between the villages of Lit and Mixe in 1825, above a huge pat of the forest of the Landes nearby the Atlantic Ocean and the Courant de Contis.

With the ever-chirrupping song of the cicadas, the preserved natural forests are a gigantic adventure playground for walks and hikes:

  • On foot, you can explore the trails of the « Cap » loop between the forest and the ocean
  • By bike, ride the Vélodyssée© trail along the coastal path or take the Vignac trail, further inland

The heritage of Lit et Mixe is a treasure trove of little delights.

Explore the fascinating architecture of the church of Notre Dame de Lit.
Visit the Landes d’Antan Museum (Landes of yesteryear), from June to September, and immerse yourself in the culture and daily life of the inhabitants of our region in the 19th and 20th centuries. A real journey into the past, discovering the ancestral Landes traditions and trades!

Every summer, you have to make sure not to miss a tour organised by the association “Les Pélicans Litois.” The members of this society keep the art of traditional fishing alive at Cap de l’Homy, aboard a pine boat called a pinasse.

All year round, every Thursday morning and every day in summer, the Lit et Mixe market offers fresh and local produce.
