Oh no it's raining!

Although a good raincoat and a pair of boots are all you need for a bracing walk in the rain…

Here are some dry alternatives!

As we say in the Landes, “Rain means good weather is on the way!”

It’s very possible that if it weren’t for the weather, you might have missed out on these great places to visit!

No beach today perhaps, but there definitely will be tomorrow!

Come and see all our local heritage!

In the dry

  • A film is always a fun thing to do. The cinemas in Castets and Léon show films for young audiences on rainy afternoons.
  • If you haven’t visited the Contis lighthouse yet, take a deep breath and climb the 183 steps to reach the highest point in the Côte Landes Nature holiday destination. A really splendid view.
  • Try out an escape game at Saint Michel Escalus. A super life-size role-playing game in which you are the hero… Locked up in a specially created room, you and your team have 60 minutes to solve the puzzles and get out of the pirate ship or of the abandoned barn.
  • Discover the original visit of the pencil workshop in Lesperon: from the coloured pencil lead to the origins of the woods, you will know everything about the creation of coloured pencils, pencils, charcoals, watercolours.
  • Have lunch or dinner and taste all our local produce in one of our farm inns or restaurants.
  • This is the perfect time to meet our local artists and perhaps buy a unique watercolour by Anne Larose at Vielle Saint Girons, a painting by Isabelle Geli in Magescq, discover the photo gallery of “La Maison des 3 poiriers” in Onesse and Laharie.
  • What to do if your boat trip on the Courant d’Huchet is cancelled because of rain ? Right next to the embarkation point, the Maison de la Réserve is open to visitors. The building alone will surprise you. A good smell of wood welcomes you to a soft and calm atmosphere where you can discover the exhibitions and workshops on the natural heritage of Lake Léon and the Courant d’Huchet.

Not enough for you?

A little further afield, our Basque neighbours welcome you to the prehistoric caves of Sare, the museum and its megalithic park.

A more contemporary visit is the Aquarium and the Cité de l’Océan in Biarritz, where you can try out virtual surfing!
